I know I know, another Harry Potter fan here, probably talking about how great the fictions and movies are, AGAIN. But I’m going to show you beyond these mediocrities.
Wizarding World Digital
Replacing Pottermore, Wizarding World Digital is now the official fan club for fans of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts that delivers and releases the latest news and official products.
Not only does it shows pictures and clips of the Harry Potter movie series, it also has features like quizzes that sort fans into the 4 Houses or ask them about different characters (even the less important ones, like Luna Lovegood), spells and magical creatures. It also allows fans to shop merchandises, house robes, wands, bags, scarfs, pins, all sorts of stuff that are perfect for collection and as gifts.
Because it’s an official site built based on the partnership of Warner Brothers and Pottermore, the website, illustrations and merchandises are designed and presented in an extremely delicate way.
Mobile games
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is the first official mobile game launched under Portkey Games, from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, that allows players to create their own character as Hogwarts students and experience school life in this school of magic.
Players could create their own avatar, they could customize details from hairstyle to face structure, from outfits to pets. Players could choose their Hogwarts House at the beginning and continue to be that House student for the rest of the game. As Hogwarts students, they could learn different spells, potions and knowledge by attending different classes (Potion Class, Charm Class, Magical Creature Class, etc), and by completing the tasks from main and side storylines. Throughout the game, they could meet different students and even be their friends (I bet you’d like to be friends with Cedric Diggory!). (I started this game a few years ago and I’m now a Year 6 student! Can’t wait to reach Year 7!)
Fan Fictions
Now, this is something that isn’t officially came from the Warner Bros.. Harry Potter fans from all over the world were so fanatic about this magical world that we extend (and continue extending) the world view beyond the movies and fictions. These fan fiction writers would write up stories that aren’t completely following J.K. Rowling’s stories, they could pair up couples and create tags for them (e.g. Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter = Draco/Harry) and write stories that the original fiction did not mention or even visioned (e.g. the life of the Malfoy family).
There are enormous amounts of websites that contain these fan fictions, and they’re in many languages and different lengths, pick a short one before going to bed, or a long one while having a haircut is definitely a perfect sleeping-aid and time-killer.
Have you ever played the games or read any fan fiction? Comment below and let me know which year you’re in if you’re playing the mobile game, or if you know anything else about Harry Potter fandom!
